An obvious classic that I had to own and read for my own benefit. What benefit? The benefit of confirming that speculation regarding some of our leaders using this book as an instruction manual rather than the warning it was meant to originally be. More than eer when you read 1984 you realize depending on your political beliefs you could either identify with the main character, Winston, or you may identify more with Big Brother. In 2019 this book remains to be a terrifying glimpse into what a totalitarian society that rewrites history daily looks like. A future where you have to believe what the media spews, even if that means ignoring the information given from the day before which, in fact, proclaimed exactly the opposite of today's broadcast. I highly recommend this classic if you haven't read it yet. If you have, I still recommend having it in you rpersonal collection in case a for-your-own-good book burning happens to occur. Using the words of Newspeak, this book is double-plus good!

10/10
