The Shining

While we're waiting for me to (finally) finish my next book review regarding Scientology, let's explore Stephen Kings The Shining. First off, The Shining, with Jack Nicholson, is one of my all time favorite movies! I've loved it since I was a kid- yes, you read that right! This is the first time a book has been just a good as the movie, in my opinion. The movie and book are on the same level for me. Eventhough the movie wasn't 100% like the book...what film adaptation is? Anyway, obviously the book is way more in depth and horrific...and more perverse, I couldn't put it down. I remember my nose being stuck in this book during my high school chorus class. I think I finished it in a week, if I remember correctly. Oddly enough I remember bizarre passages from it, for example, Wendy describing Jack's semen drying on her inner thigh during their early marriage...odd how descriptions like that stick with you 🤣 or how she loved his shiny forehead. Mind you, this is the only Stephen King book I actually liked, and I've already reviewed the sequel, Dr. Sleep, which SUCKED.
