I saw this book and had to have it I didn't realize it was a collection of photographs until it arrived. I've been dying to finally dig into it and let my brain devour its pages. I did enjoy the photographs! They took place in the 80's and that's evident in every shot. However, I did not get a skinhead vibe, at all. I got a punk, very SLC Punk vibe, to be exact. If you replaced the Skins in this book with the actors and actresses from either SLC Punk or Trainspotting, I don't think it would have changed at all. In that sense, I can see how it was deemed "a cult itself" - The Observer Review. Definitely something I'm happy to keep in my collection, even as just a discussion piece. Yet, as stated, I felt 100% a punk vibe, not a skinhead one. There are a total of 9 written pieces in this book, the rest of the 100+ pages are black and white photographs taken by the Author himself. Don't expect a psychological look into the National Socialist ideology in this book, or even much of a background for that matter. This book is simply an introspective view into someone's life via photography in England in the 80's. 6/10 ⭐
